I got put on meds for hypothyroid before thanksgiving. and I felt a thousand times better and many issues seemed to clear up.
the past week or so the extreme fatigue has come back, the constant chills have come back and the horrific mood swings are back in full force. ds was throwing a fit in the car, as two year olds sometimes do and I started freaking out and getting so irrationally angry that I nearly had dh pull the car over and let me out. five mins later I was 100% fine and had no idea why I was so upset over such a little thing.
Ive got to give my dr a call on Monday morning, is it very common to need your meds upped or changed sometimes? I cant let myself slide back to how I was before. it was terrible.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Yes, it's very possible that you need your meds adjusted. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for a person to feel much better right after starting meds and then to go downhill again afterwards.
I've changed meds throughout the years and am now on two different thyroid meds (Armour Thyroid and Synthroid), but I still don't feel well. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have started on thyroid meds when I did. I'd have had my adrenal hormones checked and would have taken natural supplements to try to balance them. I've read information that leads me to believe that starting on thyroid meds when I did put my already overtaxed immune system in worse condition. It may be only a dream, but my goal is to eventually come off thyroid meds.

are there any natural supplements that do help the thyroid? dh wants me to look into them, I have just started looking, and its hard to wade threw the sales pitches and the things that will really help.
I am currently on the lowest dose of sythyroid that is available, the bottle says 25 mcgs.

Can you afford to see a naturopath? If I were on that low of a dose, I'd definitely try to find a way not to take it. A naturopath could help you find something that would work. Checking the adrenals and supporting them to get regulated is one thing that I've read should be done.

I know this sounds supremely ridiculous, but my cat is on meds for her thyroid and I think they are fucking her up big time. I tend to mess with her meds myself (I lowered the dose from 2 to 1 pill a day) but I'm going to take her in and get her levels checked, or whatever it is that they do.
She seems doped up, messy looking, skinny, diahrrea (sp?)...what is worse. The meds or the thyroid?
Okay, now Judy. My kitty is only about 5 - 6 lbs now and is on 5mgs a day. They had her up to 10, but you just know what something isn't right, you know?
I feel completely ridiculous right now. I'm going to PM you, Judy. "lol9"

I am honestly not sure what to do with a cat. I would take her to a vet.
I had blood drawn to get my levels checked. I think my thyroid has really tanked, my mood swings are horriable and I think I am going to get put on a higher dose of meds.

Bean, is your cat hypo- or hyperthyroid? Do you know what meds she is taking? How long has she been taking meds? The symptoms you are describing sound as though she is hyperthyroid. Did she not have those symptoms before starting the meds?
I agree, Judy.
I know many pets that are treated for thyroid issues. No reason to feel silly, Bean. Hope you can get it all resolved for yer kitty.
