Hi I have a 7 week old boy and am having a few issues:
1. He doesnt open wide and I don't know how to make him open wider?
2. My let down appears to be in several small incriments- I hear him begin to swallow for around 5-10 minutes, then I notice that he is only sucking (this also occurs when I pump- milk only flows for a couple minutes and then nothing for about ten- then it comes back again). I typically nurse for 30 - 40minutes but sometimes it can take an hour. I am also supplementing.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I am definetely full in the morning but I can't get a really good sense of my supply because even after 40 minutes of nursing milk is still coiming out of my breasts...I don't think my supply is very high overall though, when i pump i only get around an ounce total between both breasts but then i can never seen to empty them when pumping.

One thought is that your pump may not be the best one for your breasts. Hand expression is an inexpensive and fabulous way to increase milk supply Here's a link to watch http://www.thenewbornbaby.com/breastfeeding-answers/hand-expression/

he was born at 8 lbs 7 oz but lost too much weight so we did the SNS feeding and have continued to use the supplement as well as breastfeed. He is now 7 1/2 weeks and weighs 11 lbs 8 oz.

There is a great website that is all about increasing your milk production. If this is something you want to do, please be encouraged that breasts that make milk can make more milk.
