My husband and I are adopting a baby in July(he's due to be born) and I want to breastfeed. Can someone please help me with the protacol so I can talk with the ob at the next appt. Thanks so much.

I dont know about inducing lactation, but I do know that if you take birth control, it will need to be estrogen-free. Estrogen can lower your milk supply.

Look into a SNS (supplementary nursing system) which provides nourishment while your milk comes in and stimulates the emptying of the breast. Use Domperidone, fenugreek, and blessed thistle (can all be used together, I am doing so now for a low milk supply problem). Talk to your lactation consultant or local LLL leader. And good luck! It is such a rewarding experience- there is more to breastfeeding than simply breast milk. Snuggles, warmth, and just a beautiful bond develop. Enjoy!
