That is a brilliant way to turn $500 dollar per acre land into $10,000 per acre land. Some folks are just geniuses. If the owner could somehow include a plastic and aluminum recycle bin on the premises, I think he/she would have a sure winner. Unless it is across the street, I'll dare to suggest that you'll spend far more driving to and from said plot that could ever be recovered in actual produce. For most people, you need to figure $0.50 per mile. Let's say it is 10 miles and you go care for your garden 10 times per harvest. That would be a cost of $100. Now add your $90 plot fee, the cost of seeds, your time (10 hours) at $10 per hour and you have upwards of $300 per 600 square foot plot per season. Unless you are raising high-density avocados, it is no bargain.
