I've been sitting here for a couple hours doing nothing and about 20 minutes ago my heart started racing. It is 108 beats per minute right now. Should I be worried? It is really uncomfortable. Thoughts?

If the episodes kept happening and occuring more frequently you might want to go to the doctor. My dh had tachycardia as a teen. He would get up to 220 bpm. Of course he's had surgery to correct for it and now he's fine.

I had it and it was because of dehydration. I thought I was taking in enough water, but I wasn't. I also take Cataplex G for the nervous system and that helps.
Try and take deep breaths (in for 4 counts out for 6) that helps your heart slow down. I would also drink something really cold or splash my face with cold water and that always stopped my attacks.
I had them when I was younger here and there and as I got older, they came a lot. You can pm me if you want to talk more about it. I've dealt with it for 2 years steady now.
Hyperthyroidism can cause a racing heart. Have you had your thyroid checked?

Me and my mother both have the Tachycardia. My mom had the surgery on hers to correct it but she still has it. I on the other hand never had surgery on it but I was on meds for a while but not anymore.
My heart rate would get up to 199-208 BPM it does feel horrible. I also had to wear the heart monitor for a whole month to see how many I was actualy having. Now that really succks when you are a 10th grader in highschool and in the middle of class your heart monitor starts recording and making all kinds of noise to do it. Imagine all the stares I got and the teacher yelling aty me to turn my "pager" off!
I hope that you start to feel better. Maybe you could get in to see a DR. and see what the doctor says.

I have tachycardia quite often, twice while in labor with DS. Now that I'm done nursing they want me to start on Atnenol to regulate my heart rate but I haven't had an episode since I was bf'ing so I haven't gone in to get it.
If you have any more episodes I would go in.

I am on a mild diuretic, but for something else, not because it is a diuretic. So maybe that is what went wrong last night. I'll drink more and hopefully it won't come back. It felt awful.

I have a couple times in past years. My mom has hashimoto's and my grandma had thyroid tumors so I thought it would be good to test. They came back normal. Hopefully they stay that way.

I just looked at the teacher and told her it wasn't a pager it was a heart monitor and I had to have it record my heart whenever I felt it start racing.
