I have made the lac cookies yum!!! they help so can I take brewer's yeast tabs to help. I also take scared tea for nursing moms. i have no clue when to pump i do not want to take away his food. When i pump after I feed Iget 10-20cc per side. if that

Yes sort of. Is that a normal amt for arfter eating? Also if i do leave him how much do you think they should warm up not to waste. he eats every 3 hrs only for 5-10 min total. not sure if he is getting just formilk he has stopped pooping now he goes maybe once every 3 days. he is almost 4 months old. just need some help!

Hi,
it looks like you are not sure if he is getting enough...one way to make sure would be to take him in for a weight check.
As for the pumping, I suggest pumping in between feedings to make your body think that it needs to make more milk because now more is wanted. It might take few days for you to see any difference and it might be smaller than you expect. Also you mention feeding him every three hours, is that him signaling to you that he is hungry every three hours or is that a schedule that you have? Does he stay on the one or both breasts for 5-10 minutes and comes off himself?

Let me know.

he wants to eat everty 3 hours if not it is to snack before nap. both breasts for 5-10. he comes off on his own. after 5 min he starts to eat then pulls off very briskly. this is done repeated so i then switch him. he goes for his 4 month check on the 9th. he was 9.5 at two months and i think 11 lbs if not more now. I am always ?ing my supply b/c of past issues so it could all be in my head. he is happy. he sleeps 4-6 hour strech at night so he gets enough.

You are absolutely right, that sometimes we question something because of past experiences or just because we expect things not to go well. It looks like he was already in the lower percentile for his weight, so when you get his weight checked on the 9th, ask the doctor what is his weight percentile then. Some babies might just be on the lower end of the scale, but as long as they are gaining some weight and are developing well there usually is no reason for concern.

it looks like you are already doing a lot to increase your milk supply, so as I mentioned before, i would also recomend pumping between feedings. It requires some additional effort on your part, as it might seem that you either have your baby or the pump on your breast, however as you already know it is worth it.

one more thing, what type of pump are you using?

Remember that if he is growing well, for example not dropping off the weight curve, in addition to reaching his developmental milestones, then your supply is not as big of a problem as you might think.

You worry about it maybe because you know that there is potential for there to be a problem, so you try to make sure that you are one step ahead. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up with fixing something and not realizing that the problem does not necessarily need as much fixing.

Watch your baby as he is the best indicator of your supply. He is growing, he is happy then you are doing good.
