:crying:

This story touches my heart so deeply!

What Amber does is so difficult! When Molly was in the NICU, her neighbor was a 23 weeker. He was precious. His mom asked me to take pictures of her, her dh & their baby. I took over 700 pictures & gave them the CD. He passed away 2 days after Molly came home.

If you didn't see it, I posted about it a few days ago on the Molly's Mission blog www.mollysmission.wordpress.com

We're having our backyard landscaped right now, and the landscaper was telling me all about it. His last child was also a month early and spent time in the NICU, so we have that in common.

It was very moving Kerry. They also held a March of Dimes auction. Their preemie son Lane is adorable.

We have a local photographer (who happened to be the photographer at our wedding) who is willing to photograph, free of charge, stillborn babies at our hospital for the families.

I did watch PEM. It was very moving.

I have been wanting to join NILMDTS for a while now. I've just been waiting to become more established. I just hope I do ok emotionally when doing those shoots. We have no NILMDTS photogs here at all, so I will be the first in, my area if I get in.

She really inspired me to go ahead and apply, and get past my own fears of doing this.

Katie, have you been in the NICU before?

Yes, but not with my own children. NILMDTS deals with babies that will not survive, and with babies that have already passed. I just know that that will be a very hard thing to deal with, hence my fear. BUT to offer a parent visual memories of the time they had with their child, would be so worth it.

No, I missed the show, but the story sounds very heartwarming.

I agree.

I just know that *for me* after spending so much time in the NICU, it's different.

You could always contact your local NICU's and offer your services for free. Many of the families there would love photos of their babys time in the NICU. Parents are stressed, worried, and often have other children to care for, and pictures can tend to be few and far between. Especially pictures w/ the parents.

It really takes a special person to do this.

Same here. I also don't think I have proper equipment right now. Not for low light situations like that. I'm hoping that in about a year I'll be ready, but in all honesty, I don't know if I'll be able to handle it.

I start bawling just watching the photographer recruitment video or the slideshows, so like I said, I may not be able to handle it.

Also, it seems like an on call type of thing (for obvious reasons) and at this point in my life I'm not able to get away easily when it's not scheduled. Maybe when my kids are older and can be left alone would be better timing.
