So, this morning about 9:05, i got a sudden urge to go poop, it just lasted 20 seconds or so, then went away. Again about 9:25 it happened again. I went to the restroom the second time, nothing just a little pee. If i remember correctly the last time contractions felt like i just had to poop? My lower back is killing me, it hurts like this sometimes at night if i have been standing a lot, but i have been sitting down all morning. I have a dr appt in a couple of hours, but until then can anyone ease my mind. Oh, I haven't had any new discharge. Maybe I'm just paranoid?

How far along are you?

Possibly constipated?

If not I would defintely say contractions.

I would say, just from what you've said, it's probably the baby just moving around, and squishing your bowels/intestines.

I'm glad to hear you're going to a dr. apt today. Def. discuss it with them. Always better safe than sorry.

I am 34 1/2 weeks, but gave birth the first time at 36 weeks, very quickly. They expect me to deliver soon, but don't know for sure since i had no signs of preterm last time. Labor started that morning and we barely made it to the hospital.

Nope, not constipated, i have been taking iron pills for two months now, and they keep me regular.

I was hoping to hang on to her for another couple of weeks, but i don't get a lot of sayso. It figures KatieLou was going to take pics of me this weekend, hopefully it was just baby moving around so i can still get pics taken. My appt is in about 1 1/2 hours from now, i will keep everyone posted.

First of all, hi nelsonwife!!!

Based on your history, I'd say it's possible. My labor experiences were quite different, but I agree that beginning contractions does feel a lot like painful diarrhea.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

It's possible that you could be in labor. It's nothing like my labors were like, but then again, each of my labors were unique too.

Good luck! Let us know what happens! :)

I think that you should call the doctor right now and see if you can be seen earlier. Based on you history I would not wait. If it is pre term labor the sooner you get seen the sooner they can try to stop it. Good luck.

If i had any other symptoms or regular contractions i would have called them already, but since i haven't i am thinking it may not be labor??

KatieLou - i am trying to hang on to her, but i don't get to make that call, haha. I just sent you a pm about sunday.

It might not hurt to call anyway Kelly. Maybe they can bubmp your appt up. JIC.

If you don't make it, then we might just have to do NB pics instead. No biggie. Take care of yourself.

This is the reason I think you should call. Since you almost did not make it the last time and you had no signs of preterm labor. Contractions can sometimes feel like you described. I still think you should at least call him. Take care.

That feeling describes the way my last labor started. Since it has stopped I hope that is a good sign.

Iron usually constipates.

Well i just got back from the dr., my dr is out of town this week so i saw a different dr and I don't think she was listening to me. Anyway, so i am dialated to 1, but my cervix has not thinned, etc. She said everything was normal. The only issue i have with this is the last time i delivered, at 12:00 they checked me and i was not dialated and my cervix was closed, etc, they sent me home, i came back to the hospital 2 hours later and delivered him 18 minutes after getting there. I know every delivery is different so i am trying to stay calm and listen to my body. I will update if something else happens. Everything just happened so quick last time that i am on pins and needles right now waiting for something to happen.

As far as the iron pills go, since i have been taking them i have never been so regular in my life?? Who knows maybe they react different to everyone??

I hate the feeling of "not be listened to." I will be thinking of you.

Did this other doc know about your pre-term delivery last time?

kellyjoinky

I told her, but she didn't seem to listen to me. She said this was fine, everything was normal, blah, blah, blah. I guess i am just going to have to listen to my body and go from there.

Listen to your body and do not doubt in rushing back to the hospital. I delievered my twins at 34 1/2 weeks and I still think it couldve been prevented if the doctor had listened to me.

I had been spotting for a week prior and was having strong back pains which he said were 'normal'.

My water broke in the afternoon, 15 minutes after I was in the hospital and when I was examined I was 7-8 centimeters. I had to have been dilating for some time.

That poster is wise.

I agree. No matter how experienced or educated a health care provider is, they're not in your body, feeling exactly what you're feeling. If your gut tells you something is up, don't hesitate to get checked out. With a history of preterm labor, I'd be especially cautious.
