Sorry to post this here, but I did not think I would get much traffic on the GB this late.

My little monkey just turned 2 the end of Feb. He has been nursing 1-2 times a day. He went through a spell where he was only nursing 1 time, and sometimes skipping days, but is back up to 1-2 times.

Anywhooo...The past couple weeks his nursing seesions have lasted forever. I mean, way long! I kind of feel like I am nursing a newbie again! I don't have much milk anymore so after a while it does become a little bit uncomfortable. The past 3 days or so after he has nursed a good while (30 minutes or so) I will offer him something else rice milk, a snack, some cuddles with a book, etc. Nothing. If I try to unlatch him he clamps on for all it is worth and I can hardly get him off, and if I do he screams bloody murder, and throws himself in the floor. I can count on him being a abear for at least a hour after that!

DH is not much help on the nursing tantrums as he just says "He is 2. Just wean him." He does not say to much to me about it, but makes comments when we are around my family. Keeping in mind, he has come a long way from thinking it was so strange to nurse past a year. He was quite supportive for this 2nd year, but *snap* DS turns 2, and he thinks we should be done now. :(

I don't mind him nursing at all, but he is wanting to sit and nurse for over a hour at a time, if not more than that. He did have a cold the end of last week, so maybe he is still not feeling good or something.

First time nursing a 25 month old here, so thought on this are welcome!

On a different note. He had his well baby checkup today and he is finally up to a whopping 24lbs! Up 2 lbs from just a couple months ago, and is 38 inches tall! He was 95% in height and like 8% in weight. lol.

They did give him some reflux meds for throwing up, and being uncomfortable some after meals. He also, very often, gets up with a cough, and throws up because he is coughing so hard at night a lot. She thinks that maybe it is more due to the reflux than than his borderline asthma, which was kind of a relief to me. So maybe the meds with help with that too.

I have no advice. But, Anne Marie just turned a year old and just the last few days has insisted on hour long nursathons...

I feel ya. My nipples are sore. I feel like I'm nursing a newborn again.

Well, us having the unique experience of having your DS' cyber twin;-), I can tell you with certainty that DDs interest in nursing has picked up as well. She only nurses twice daily too but her morning session can go on forever!

What we do to limit nursing, is she is only allowed in my bedroom. When I am lying in my bed it is open season and she adores just hanging off me for what seems like hours! I would really like to be done nursing but I put up with it, thinking hopefully, we won't go on much longer.

When I can't take it any more, I just say mommy has to get up now and I find something to do OUT OF BED. When she is nursing, the only way she willingly unlatches is if I say: c'mon, mommy has to poop~ which sparks her interest in watching people poop, a new found interest, how lovely:/

DS did go through this at around 18 months, where he was nursing like 10 times a day, but not near thislong.

Wow NN. Our kiddos are so much alike! They really do seem to have twin qualities! lol.

Mommy has to poop! HA! That is too funny. The only way I can get DS to unlatch is to tickle him untill he has to laugh and open he mouth. Then he gets so mad at me.

Emily self weaned at 29 months. She would do the same thing. I felt like I was nursing all the time. I used to have dreams of her chasing me w/ the boppy in one hand and signing milk with the other. Then a few weeks after she weaned, I missed nursing her. :(

I have no idea if he has all his molars Amy, I will have to look.

I really thought he was going to wean a couple weeks ago PEM. He actually wnet 2 full days without nursing. So, we will see what happens I suppose.

He nursed like crazy when he woke up this morning. I feel asleep and woke up 1.5 hour later and he was still nursing.
