Anyone take these classes? I have heard lots of great things about these classes, and book, and it is being offered locally. There are three classes for $250. I am wondering if it is worth it. I know the people who run this class are very well reviewed, so I am sure that the classes they offer are quality. I am wondering more about the program itself, and if anyone has taken it.

After doing this three times (twice with no epidurals), the one MOST VALUEABLE resource was my birth doula and having a midwife instead of OB at the birth. Not spending most of my time in the bath, or doing private hypno-birthing classes etc. Just some good old coaching and loving support when things got hairy. So I don't know about spending all that money; how about borrowing the book from the library?

The book is really good, in my opinion. I'd recommend reading it and doing some of th activities and then making a decision.
I didn' even know that classes existed and would have jumped on them before my second birth after I read the book. As it was, the book helped me work through a lot and prepare a lot by itself, too.

I need to make a decision pretty quick (like by tomorrow) so I unfortunately can't really read the book and then decide :S I left it a bit late and there is only one space left in the class I want. I am not sure what to do. Its 14 hours over three days, this weekend.
The class was recommended by my midwife..she said it is a great class. I guess I am more wondering if people took the class and if it helped. The class basically takes on what is taught in the books, and then expands on it?

If I could afford it, I'd go for it.

I've taken lamaze classes (not the same i know) and was really glad to have taken them for my son (born at home, no drugs) because it truly kept hubby and I on the same page as far as things go and I think it really helped prepare us. All that by way of saying I think any classes you take will help. I've heard good things about birthing from within as well. Might they offer another class between now and the time you're due?

I would really like to take some lamaze classes this time around. I know this is my 4th baby but I have never had a birth without an epidural and pitocin.
I would really love to have a baby naturaly for once.
I got a really nice magazine from my Midwife yesteday and it is called Lamaze. It has quite a few trhings in there to help with your labor, nursing, and making a birth plan. I am slowly starting to read that magazine to see if it has anything in there that will help me.

If that class was around here, I would definitely take it. I have read the book in my last pregnancy (and am now reading it for this one!) and I found it to be extremely helpful. Especially if you have fears or birth trauma from a previous birth. I can imagine that the class is that much better. I know for me, I learn so much more hands on or from a person.

My best friend is a BFW Mentor, I highly recommend the classes for all pregnant couples.

That's been my experience as well. I've had three completely unmedicated births, and the way I did it was by knowing in advance that I wanted to go med-free, knowing in my mind WHY it was important to me, and having really good labor support. I would take the $250 you'd spend on a class and get a doula instead.

I agree with Kerry. I read the book in my second pregnancy and for me, having had a traumatic birth the first time, it just made me feel guilty. I did get my med free birth but it was mostly on my will alone.
