View Full Version : Obama and Roosevelt historical brothers?

With all the critizism lately of what our President is doing, today I watched an episode of History Detectives, which talked about the great depression, Roosevelt's measures, and how people got angry at him, accusing him to be a communist even and it got me thinking about what is happening these days.

We are in a different era, but I don't think we know any more than way back when about what needs to be done. Back in the 30s business became a lot more regulated by government and that was a huge issue. I am a naturalized American, so my knowledge of US history isn't that great (hence my enthusiasm for that TV program), but I think that in the end, Roosevelt's policies weren't too shabby. So just maybe, Obama might be right as well.

I'm hoping so.

(But I hate his education plan, which is a whole other issue. :p)

Yeah, you know, I guess I wish more people "hoped", instead of wagging fingers, acting like they know what should be done. It's really scary, the mess we're in, but I wish we could all just be more patient - we cast our vote and now we need to pull together ...
