My son is 3 months old and is consistently sleeping for 12 hours or so at night (a huge blessing, I know!). His last feeding of the day is usually around 7:30-8:00pm. I have been pumping before I go to bed, usually around 10:30-11:00pm. Then I have been getting him up around 9:00am. His weight gain has always been good. Can I stop pumping before I go to bed? And can I let him sleep in the morning until he wakes up? That might mean there would be 14 hours or more between those two feedings. Will I have to pump some in between them? What would you do in this situation?

Also, during the day, I have still been trying not to go longer than 3 hours between feedings (sometimes waking him up from a nap) for fear my supply will disappear. Will going longer affect my supply (keeping in mind the really long gap I have overnight)?

Fourteen hours is a long time to go without nursing or pumping, and my concern would be that your supply would decrease over time, especially now, when a lot of women notice that they no longer overproduce and production is more supply and demand driven. I think I would recommend that you continue pumping once or twice during that time, at least until he starts eating solid foods.

I would try to aim for at least 6-8 feedings in a 24-hour period, even if it means waking him early to get in another feeding.
