I breastfed my daughter until she was 10 months (she decided she was no longer interested to my dismay), so we did a slow wean. Afterwards I was in pain for about a week, and then it went away. It has been almost 7 months since I weaned her, but I have notice recently when I was showering that some nasty looking yellow milk is coming from my nipples (when warmth or pressure is applied). Is this normal? What should I do?

Thanks!

are you pregnant?

No I'm definitely not pregnant... otherwise I would think it was normal. She's my first child, so I've never experienced any of this before. It just seems odd to me that I would still be secreting milk, albeit yellow, 8 months after I stopped breast-feeding.

It is very normal, I had milk for several months after weaning my girls. I doubt you have anything to worry about.

I know some women who have had milk discharge for up to 20 years! it is normal but if your breast feel hot or grow or there is a lump that cant go away in the shower when you massage it out call a doc just to be on the safe side.
