Well, they're calling for snow here tonight. Based on how the clouds look, I think we might really get it.

Just three days ago, homes in the area were destroyed during thunderstorms. This is crazy weather.

Damn. We had 1/2 inch of snow on the ground this morning, but I wouldn't expect snow where you're at, Judy. The weather really is crazy this spring!

Now that really isn't fair, Judy. I share all of the horrid storms we've had with you, but you don't share your snow with me.

We're still having bad winds here. I've given up on the yard. DH went out earlier to try to pick up some of the fallen branches and a huge gust blew through and knocked another limb out of the tree. It missed DH's head by about 6 inches. Definitely been crazy weather down in the South!!

yeah, i am in the south too, and it has been really cold and windy and below freezing at night. it only got up to 56 today!

PR, I'm so glad your dh wasn't hit by the limb! We're still having high winds, too. We currently under a freeze watch, a special weather statement (potential snow), and a wind advisory.

I really don't want this. I'm so afraid it's going to mess up our apple tree production; I've been counting on having the apples. :( The apple tree is already blooming, and this freeze could really screw it up. I told dh that we should throw a blanket over it, and he thought I was serious! :p

ChristmasTree, what state are you in if you don't mind saying? I'm in NW GA, and the high has only been in the 40s here today.

I just turned the heat back on. Since I've been trying to keep my bill down, I haven't had it on in quite some time now, even when it got into the low 30s recently. (I also didn't turn on the air when it got into the 80s.) However, with all the moisture, I don't want mold issues downstairs, so I decided to turn the heat on.

I finally turned the heat on a few hours ago. (we'd been gone all day and it was chilly by the time we got home)

I was all set for spring, dammit.

I wish I could take the snow for you. I'd love to get it here. So many of the crops around here have already been drowned, a little frost couldn't do too much more damage.

We were in the 70's yesterday, and we had snow today.

We were in the upper 80's over the weekend. I got a really bad sunburn to.

Today the wind picked up a lot and we are getting the cold air again. Not sure how cold we are supposed to get but it is pretty cold.

We had to turn the heater back on early last week at night. We have had to leave it on during the day too, the past couple of days.
It is supposed to be 36 tonight, and we got up to around 63. I think I can live with it though, it beats 100+ temps with no a/c.

We play a little trick on mother nature here. Water your fruit trees heavily before the freeze. You need to remove a lot of heat to freeze that extra water and it is less likely to freeze the blooms. It works.

Will it help that we've been having a lot of rain recently?

What hidesome said. There was an article years back in Organic Gardening I don't know how well it works if they are in full bloom. I have pictures of my tomatoes covered in ice because I watered them all night with a sprinkler. I kept it on till morning when the sun's light got stronger. There was far less damage than if I had not watered them. In fact many unfroze with little to no damage. Ice melting will put off BTUs that save the plants.

lol It was warm last week and now we have some snow. We are supposed to get a possible 2-4 inches of snow and we are under a snow advisory until 3am Wednesday. They are calling for high 40's and low 50's all the way into next week. Crazy weather, but really it is still April, so I don't expect much right now.

Well, we had snow flurries yesterday, and today I've had my windows open. My apple tree still looks pretty, so cross your fingers for me.
