What a relief!!

Homeschoolers here grades 3-9 are required to take the state standardized test that public school students take.

I was a bit nervous about it myself, Jake didn't seem to be concerned with much past "will there be snacks?" and worried that he might have to eat cafeteria food. Not that he knows what that is, lol.

But in all my thoughts about the testing, I haven't really thought out what to do with the results. File them in a cabinet and not look? Should I tell Jake how he scored?

I need some input on this, so I can sort it out. DH suggested making a paper airplane of it and sailing it into the trash. There is a part of me that wants to look and know how he scored; although I feel pretty confident that I do know what his strong and weaker points are.

FWIW, I always knew my test scores, and my parents never made much of a fuss over it. I also don't think that tests such as these do not accurately reflect much more than how good someone is at taking tests.

Do you let your kids know their tests scores? Please explain why or why not.

I let Jacob know his test scores last year because he kept asking me about them. He felt that he had done really well (and he was right), so he wanted to know. If he had not asked, I probably wouldn't have mentioned anything about them at all.

I'm assuming you're kidding about tossing them. I'd definitely file them.

I always knew my test scores because, well, they handed them out in school. If he does horrible I wouldn't show him. If he does great, then it would make him happy, I'm sure.

Jake felt he did fine. He said the reading part was easy and the math was mostly easy but he had to guess on the last few because he ran out of time. I don't think he will think to ask about his score by the time they are mailed to us.

I was kidding about tossing them. I will file them . ( DH wasn't kidding nearly so much, he is annoyed by the whole idea, lol)

He's been familiar with Homeschooling for much longer than I have ( his Nieces and nephews have been homeschooled and they are in their 20's now) and he's a bit more.. radical? than I am. That's not quite the right word..

I'd let him see the scores if he wanted to. If you don't make a big thing out of them, I doubt he would either.
