View Full Version : Gift Help needed

I am usually really good about buying gifts for my DH, but I am stumped.

Our 10 year anniversary is in 2 weeks and I have spent the last 2 month wracking my brain to think of a nice gift for my DH.

He is an attorney. He does MMA, but I bought him a bunch of MMA gear for Valentines day. He rides motorcycles, but he used to race and I am fairly certain that he still has every motorcycle gadget that he will ever need left over form the racing days. He loves movies and books but everything that he wants he buys. He collects watches, but I don't know enough about watches to pick something out for his collection. He is a car freak, but he has 3 and keeps them in pristine condition so I doubt there is any kind of accessory that he needs.

I would love to do a night away, even locally at a hotel or something, but we have a 6 week old so that will have to wait.

We are going to dinner at the same restaurant that we had our first date and and that he propsed at, but beyond that I am a complete blank.

I need some suggestions for sentimental or thoughtful gifts. I would relaly like to get him something that will touch him, but I am completely at a loss.

Lay it on me, what suggestions do you have, anyone? Price (within reason) is not a concern.

Is there anyone you could talk to and find out about what a good watch would be? I think a watch with a really nice personal inscription would be perfect!

What about some professional lingerie pictures? (of you, not him! :p)

A day or afternoon at a nice spa? You could have dual massages and be pampered together.

Just thought of another thing...what about a video montage set to music of your first 10 years together!

I got dh one of those one Christmas and it had first dd's birth to the present and he LOVED it!

I was going to come in and suggest this!

This is what we do every year for our anniversary. We get a couple's massage. I look forward to that day all year! :)

I might try visitng a watch store today and see what they reccomend.

I love the spa idea. I am going to see if we can get reservations and set up some babysitting.

I tossed around the picture idea, but you know, being 6 weeks PP I am just not up for it. :)

I like this. :)

This is very cute. I think he might like it. There are also some other things on the site that look interesting.

Thanks.

Hmmm, I could think of tons of things that he would like but he probably has them all already. I would think back to when you first met and see if you can find something to symbolize that. Like maybe you could get him some of those lights for the bottom of his Bentley. I think he would like the ones that change color, not just stay the same color ;)

Is there some sort of day trip you have not been on? Catalina, Central Coast wine tour, Hearst castle, stargazing at Mt. Wilson, something like that? If you need more ideas, I have a list :). In our family, taking the baby would be fine.

Instead of a gift, how about writing him a letter? My husband has LOVED this when I did it. Mine was along the lines of some of the highlights of our years together and also some specifics on how he has helped me/etc.

Congratulations on 10 years! May you have many happy more!

P.S. I'll be down in your area on May 11th if you would like to get together.

I love www.redenvelope.com for unique and sentimental gifts. I was looking around on there and saw these:

which might be cool for a watch lover.

Also, this is kind of sweet if he wears necklaces:

Forgot to say Happy Anniversary! :)

Sorry about the lingerie idea, I wasn't thinking and I wasn't anywhere ready for anything like that 6 weeks post partum either!!

How about an anniversary wedding band with ten diamonds? Nothing says "I love you" better than jewelry, IMO :)

Does it sound feasible to take something he really likes or is really fascinated with and then arrange a personal tour or some behind the scenes somethingorother involving that? For example, my husband is totally fascinated by all things weather. I swear he missed his calling as a meteorologist. A couple of years ago, I arranged for him to meet the chief meteorologist at one of our local news stations. He not only got the tour and a personal q & a session with her, we got to sit in the studio during a live news and weather broadcast. We've been together for over 20 years, so I know how hard it is to come up with a creative gift, but this was by far the biggest hit.

Anyway, if there's something he really loves like that, maybe an outside the box approach to it might work?

It's traditionally the tin/aluminium anniversary. A quick google of "aluminium watch" brought up some high end choices.

You could gift it to him in a wood display case - http://www.watchcases.com/woodwatchcasebox.html

The modern gift for the 10 year anniversary is diamonds. You could do a tie tack or cuff links since he wears business attire to work.

Congrats on your anniversary! We celebrated 9 years last month. I need to start planning something really special for next year. :)

What about talking to the senior partner at his old firm who is an avid watch collector? He could give you great advice on what to get.

And congrats on 10 years!

Just in case you don't get to talk to the partner, you cannot go wrong with a watch from
Patek Phillipe. As a matter of fact; it might be nice to get yourself one, too!!!

I chuckled, I snorted and I actually really choked on my coffee.

I will put this idea on the short list. Right behind the family decals for the back window of the Ferrari.

10 years is a big one. I would give him a nice picture of the two of you together with a sweet quote.

My most brilliant achievement was my ability to be able to persuade my wife to marry me.
Winston Churchill

A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.
Germaine Greer

Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.
Aristotle

Here are my other ideas. Be mindful that all dh gets is a card and sex.

Hot air baloon ride or bi-plane ride. http://www.californiadreamin.com/

And I like these candles.
http://glassdimensions.com/site/grp_anniv_diamond.html?partner=P10063

I love these quotes. I am going to incorporate at least on of them one way or another. I like the frame idea, alot. He can put it in his office.

I also love the hot air baloon ride idea, but he is afraid of heights. :)

I am going to visit some local watch makers. I love the 10 diamonds and aluninum watch idea, especially with an inscription. I am going to see if I allowed myself enough time to have something made. I want to use the inscription that I put inside his wedding ring, but add another line.

I put in there "My Friend. My Love. My Life."
I want to add "My Forever."

So I think that I am going to work on that.

Maybe also a video montage of pics of you and him throughout the years?

Do you think he would like an itouch?
How about a couples massage?
