Is this really a hurdle in my weight loss journey? (skipping breakfast that is)

On most days I cannot eat breakfast. Food nauseates me in the morning.

Now I am taking a chinese diet supplement in the morning and I think it really does take the edge off of your hunger because it is 12pm and I am not hungry.

I will be having my cup of coffee in a bit but I cannot even think about food.

What things can I eat that will keep my metabolism from slowing down?

You are ruining any efforts made because your body is in starvation mode. As an act of preservation, after approximately 8 hours of no food, your body will begin to store fat and will continue to store fat until you feed it and break the fast.

That is the true definition of the word breakfast= break fast.

You would do much better with your weight loss if you ate more food at more frequent intervals.

I eat when my body tells me to, by hearing my stomach growl. It has been working for me. I also belong to a group through church called "Light Weigh" by Suzanne Fowler. It has been wonderful.

I'm one who thinks breakfast is extremely important.

Are you still breastfeeding?

Your intake should be spread out throughout the day. IIRC, it is not as easy to lose weight when you save all your calories for later in the day.

If you are truly not in need of food in the morning, you wouldn't need to take a suppressant in the morning. IMHO, if you feel you are in need of controlling your eating, using a suppressant is the worst way to go. YOU need to control your body, not a chemical or whatever they use.

ample studies have shown that eating small meals throughout the day is beneficial for losing (and maintaining) weight. Our systems are set up to eat throughout the day. As the PP have posted; eating in fewer bigger meals tricks the body into thinking that we have to store calories and use the ones that we eat more economically.

I am not really a breakfast eater and only eat real "breakfast" when i am nursing (ie oatmeal). When i am not nursing i have a late breakfast at work rather than trying to eat at 7am, (i'll make it 9-10am).
be careful with the supplements, it is generally unknown what is in the formulas. Even if the ingredients are known the concentrations are generally unknown. Ingredients might tax your body over the long run and actually be detrimental for your health and weight loss.

I have trouble with breakfast too. I have to struggle to eat anything at all in the morning.

Would it help to wake earlier so you do not have to eat immediately? Easier said than done I know...

Many breakfast foods are pure refined carbs which cause a glucose spike, then an insulin spike then a glucose drop that makes you feel hungrier than if you would not have eaten at all. For breakfast I would recommend protein such as eggs or lean meat combined with some whole grain carbs.

Consume your calories earlier in the day (perhaps cut yourself off after dinner time). You also have to incorporate exercise to boost your metabolism. Start small taking walks. It may be helpful to do light exercise in the morning to stimulate hunger.

Good luck with your weight loss goals!

green smoothies are great in the morning. Throw whatever fresh fruits you have in the house, some frozen berries, and some spinach or kale in the blender, maybe with some protein powder (I use hemp). Delicious and a good start :)

I am a breakfast person but I try to eat healthy since it is usually my biggest meal of the day. I have put on about 10 lbs since I stopped bf so now that spring is here I am trying to loose it by eating small meals during the day and taking brisk walks while at work. My next step is bike riding. Good luck on your weight loss plan.

I thought it was more like 12 hours. Don't they recommend not to eat right before bed because you tend to store more of it and burn less while sleeping?

Even a glass of milk or juice would be helpful. I hate eating breakfast too, but hate my baby weight even more. Whatever I can do to get rid of it, I am willing to give a go.

I never met anyone else who feels like that in the morning. So I am not the only one :). I too get nauseated at the thought of food in the morning. Can you drink something nutritious? A shake? Half a banana with a cup of milk? At least like that your tummy would have something to digest.

My mom hates to eat in the morning, too. She always has.

Now me, I love breakfast. I always wake up hungry.

Actually, I have read that one uses more fat when sleeping. But it does seem like a bad idea to go to bed stuffed full. And uncomfortable.

Studies show that eating breakfast actually helps with weight loss and then maintaining a healthy weight.
