Nipple shrinkage

Hello! I have a question concerning breastfeeding. My baby is 5 months and a couple of days ago I noticed my areola was much noticeably smaller, my nipples seem to have shrinkage, and all of a sudden it hurts when baby nurses. What's wrong and how do i fix it?
