my 7 month old, wow 7 months already but his weight gain has slowed down tremdously. he gained 1 pound in 2 months. well we have started soilds, and he nurses at night and takes a bottle while i am at work. however he takes about 5 to 9 ounce all day of ebm. when i come home he is ready to nurse. he nurses a while usually, then goes to sleep. how can i help his weight gain. are there soilds i can feed him that will help him with weight gain. he was born 8 lbs 8 ounces, and at 7 months is 16 lbs 2 ounces. i heard avocado is a good thing to feed them because it is high in calories, any thoughts on others, or even if avocado is good. i make his food by the way.

At 7 months and 16 lb 2 oz he is still in good weight range, although he could probably gain a bit more. I have a few questions. What does he eat thought the day in addition to the milk? Cereal? Fruits, vegetables? Meat? and how much (just an approximation)?
When he nurses when you are back from work, do you hear him swallowing milk or is to more of comfort nursing?
Is he an active baby?
You can try avocado and if he likes it it is a good source of some vitamins, unsaturated fats and lutein.

he eats oatmeal in the morning, usually some vegetables, like butternut squash, carrots, green beans, avocado,we tried sweet potato once or twice and maybe apples. he eats about a good over full table spoon of one of those. is that enough? he is definatly drinking when he nurses with me, and he is active. are there better foods

That's a very nice selection of choices that you offer, but I would say that a bit more that a table spoon is ok for him. So try to increase his portion size at the feedings. Not by too much as you would not want to substitute too many nursing sessions with food. Watch him as you feed him, as he will show you when he had enough. Some measure it by the size of a baby food jar. You can also start to provide him with some finger foods so that he can play with the texture and taste.
