Can you give me some ideas? I don't want Photoshop, I know that.
I used to have a really good one, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is called. I do remember that it did photo editing and I could do stuff like flyers, newsletters and stuff. It was kind of like Printmaster, but better.
TIA!

I am curious about this too. I need to purchase some and I'm not sure what to get either.

Adobe In-design is what you use to do posters and things. It has most of the photo shop tools too.
Correl draw is another big one.

I have settled on Printmaster Platinum 18 plus the scrapbook creator. I decided to go with something that I already know how to use. Just for shits and giggles, I am looking at an anime program as well.

I have Corel Paint Shop Pro Xi and it is the absolute best photo program ever.

Do you not want Photoshop because of the cost? If so, then you can always try GIMP. It is shareware so it is free and you can find a good number of tutorials online for it.

I just don't like Photoshop. We don't agree. Well, we do agree, just like cats and water.

GIMP was reccomended to me by my BIL who's a computer buff. He think's it has more options that PS. I plan on downloading it once I get my computer cleaned up off all the uneccessary crap I have on it.

I will look into GIMP. Right now we are trying to get all of the damned viruses that our anti virus missed. SO far we are at a count of 16+ viruses. Grrr.

Have you used Malwarebytes to remove viruses? It is the only one that got rid of some nasty viruses that made their way onto my computer.

I run a regular scan with it now to make sure that junk stays off.

I have been paying for the damned Verizon Internet Security suite every month, but it is crappy. I am going to stick with avast. It is pretty good.
My DH wants to look at that one too, so we will see. I had to completely wipe my computer, and I am not happy. It is going to weeks to put everything back on. Me thinks it is time for online file back up...

Fwiw, my cousin's dh who is a tech admin at a major university suggested Malwarebytes to me. He only suggests things that he would suggest for their computers at work.

sweetkisses- it isn't bad, but we download stuff a lot, and need something a little more heavy duty.

I'll second the Malwarebytes. I currently have Avast and have had good luck with it. But my friend caught a couple viruses that only MBytes seemed to find.

I use Gimp, and I love it. It has a bit of a learning curve, but it's free. I don't think it's much more complicated than Photoshop, but way less in price. :)
There are a lot of free (shareware) photo editing softwares available. Just google, download and try different ones out. There is a freebie on giveawayoftheday (http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/) today.

I am currently doing a trial of Adobe Lightroom and I really like it, but I don't think it does flyers or anything like that, just photo editing.

I've been using GIMP for a while and it's very good. Search YouTube for GIMP tutorials and you'll quickly learn some of its really nice features. Your kids may enjoy Tux Paint.
My brother highly recommends Scribus and Inkscape (both free for Linux, Mac, Windows) for doing desktop publishing and layout.

Picnic and Photobucket are some very easy to use online (free) photo editing software, too.
