So my baby is 16 months old and I have yet to see a period. I did have some spotting about a month ago but it was during a VERY, VERY stressful time and it was only a day. When do periods come back on average? Do they come back regular or all over the place? I should mention that my baby nurses fairly frequently still (not during the night though)...I would say 4-5 times/day on most days. But he eats all table food and drinks regular milk as well. I take a pg. test every once in awhile just to make sure I'm not pregs again. I'm just curious.

I don't think that there is an average, I am sure we could arrive at a median number but that won't say anything about when your menses will return.
With my first, who only nursed for 6 months it took six week from the last time I pumped (she was 8.5 mo by then) for my period to return. They were regular (I got pregnant after three cycles, miscarried and then had another three cycles before getting pregnant with a sticky baby).
With my second, I night weaned him at 18 months and it took only a couple of weeks for my period to come back and I got pregnant right away.
With my third I got my period back when she was over 2. It just happened one month, without her nursing any less. They have been very regular from the getgo.

I'm with Ima. There's such a wide range of normal. I breastfed exclusively on cue (which was A LOT - 'round the clock, pretty much) and had a very light, very short period around 3 months PP. I had another one - a very heavy one - at 8 months PP. Some women follow the same nursing pattern, yet don't get their periods back for over a year.

19 months and counting here. My dd sounds the same as your little one. Nurses several times a day, sleeps through the night and eats a full solid diet. I'm kind of hoping for periods soon as we'd like to start TTC in the next few months.

I didn't have my first pp af until 16 months with DS1 and 17 months with Ds2. It varies from woman to woman and baby to baby.

I didn't get my first period with my first until he was 20 months old. He nursed frequently during the day, but ate plenty of table foods and slept through the night.
My second was at about 13-14 months old (I don't remember specifically) and he was nursing very frequently all day and night and didn't eat a lot of table foods.
I think it really depends on your body and the hormones. Mine were different for different babies.

with ds even though he nursed round the clock every two hours or more my first period was 6 weeks pp and then every 28 days after that. no real break at all.

With dd2, my first real nurser, my first period did not show up until around 14 months, she was nursing very little during the day and 2-4 times at night. With dd3 AF showed up at 9 months or so, and was very irregular until she was about 18 months old. I got pregnant when she was 20 months, so I had about 3 regular periods before getting pregnant. I weaned her at 22 months and then miscarried a month later. I am hoping for a good long break from my period with my newset baby, DH had a vas. so I have no need for a period any longer. ;) LOL

For some reason i did not get AF back at all. I always wanted 2 kids close together. I stopped BF and pumping at 14 mo in the hope that PPAF would come, but 8 months later... still nothing. Apparently my body can not "get into cycle" again after pregnancy. I am currently 7 mo PP (yay fertility drugs), BF and pumping and AF has not shown up yet......
We'll see how my body responds this time around.

The average is 14.6 months. It's 3 months for some women and well over 2 years for others. It took 16 months after my second child and 18 months after my first. I cut my first child down though to get it back since I wanted to get pg.

Mine came back at 12 mo but I was also taking some meds that would regulate it sooner. I have heard it can stay away for up to 2 and a half years so dont stress yet.
