I'm going to the doctor today and suspect a thyroid problem. What test(s) should I ask for? I'm worried she'll attribute my problems to typical postpartum ones (memory problems, tired, etc.) but they're really more severe and I don't think it's sleep deprivation. Seriously, I feel like I have Alzheimer's.
Thanks!

I'm probably too late in answering, but you should ask for a full thyroid panel. Otherwise, the doctor is likely to just test TSH, which often isn't enough.

I'm not sure which test she ordered. She was actually worried about a non-thyroid autoimmune thing and drew some blood for that, but also drew blood for a thyroid test since I wanted one. I'm sure it was the basic one... I should hear in a couple of days about the results.
I'm a little worried about the visit but trying to stay calm and wait for results. It may all be stress, I guess. She mentioned lupus as a possibility, but I've googled it and it doesn't seem to match. My blood pressure is high again, too (I was induced for high bp, and it took several weeks to go back to normal).
I feel like I'm falling apart physically, and my life is so stressful, with my dh getting laid off and all these problems with my son and a 4-month old.

While other issues, of course, are possibilities with anyone, thyroid problems are quite common postpartum, so I'm surprised that she thought something else was more likely.
I'm sorry you're having a hard time both physically and emotionally. You have a lot going on right now. Hang in there.
