If you were to pick a career for your child based on their personality right now, what job do you think they would be best suited for?
The 17 YO - Music teacher and Drama coach..Emphasis on the dramah. And a research scientist during the day. Side job of caffeine tester. OOH and OMG! A traveling research Scientist who goes to New Zealand, and Mongolia and Fiji And Brazil HOW AWESOME IS THAT!! WOHOO11!!But Drama too. She could do drama coaching in any language.
The 8 yo - Full time demolitions consultant for Mythbusters. Need a guy to blow up a dump truck full of bananas? He's the expert on making that happen.
the 3 yo - Professional veto-er. She could work in congress and say "NO! I Not want! I not like it!" to every silly spending bill. She would also assist her older brother in demolitions, as the go-to expert in food messes.

My 9 YO DD: auditor, any type. She needs to know that everything is right because she checked it herself.
8 YO DS: Actor, singer, dancer. Emphasis on comedy. I think his goal is to grow up to be Jackie Chan.
4 YO DS: Aeronautics or other engineer. Needs to fly things around, make trains go, drive remote control cars.
2 YO DD: Queen of the Universe. All must bow to her will, and then be rewarded with smiles and kisses.

A critic. He tells everyone else how things should be done. I need to help him get over that. He thinks he knows everything. He even criticizes my driving! Mom, the hill is too steep! You need to shift to second! And he's only 4...

Ds1: arcitect. He loves building with anything. But who knows he is really getting into dinosaurs and is having me read him tons of books on them. The child knows the names of EVERY SINGLE dinosaur and can pronounce them too. I can't do that. :) So he may get into the sciences too.
Ds2: trouble. He is trouble. He makes it, he finds it, and loves it.

DD2 a doctor she is always doing research and how to prevent the spread of germs, how to prevent infection and she is very good at taking care of us when we are sick.
DD3 could be a product tester for Safety First items since she has out smarted all the baby proof gadgets in our house.

My 4 year old could be many things at this point. He could be a computer guy like his daddy. He's very adept on the computer. Then again he likes to build and destroy - not sure what job that is. He's also a natural explorer - has a great sense of direction and wants to go everywhere.

6 yo DD: Some sort of engineer or designer. Some very literal job, that allows for some creativity.
4 yo DD: She'd be great in the dramatic arts. If not that, then something to do with computers. She's a little computer junkie already.
DD3 41 weeks gestation: She will probably still be in my woomb.
Oops. I'm not paper_, I'm rock__.

DS1: Veterinarian, Marine Biologist, or Chef. He loves animals and learning about their habitat. It has spurred on his new recycling craze. He also LOVES to cook. How many 5 year olds do you know who beg to watch the Food Network channel?
DS2: Engineer. He loves to build and set up "obticle" courses for his hotwheels. He'd be a pretty good dog trainer too.

That and Lisas's "trophy wife " made me laugh.

Rory says she is going to be a rockstar ...and I have a hard time not believing that lately.I imagine there will be loud dramatic shows with lots of costumes and special effects -and probably include the destruction of a few instruments.
I think she would be a good veterinarian- or doctor, or dentist, she is constantly putting her LittlestPetShop toys through exams ,and mock surgeries.
Writer/Director seems very fitting at this age as well. She plans out all her little games-bringing me a toy saying "mom make the dinosaur say ----, to the stuffed cow"

My 7 yo - interrogator at any terrorist prison. We would be safer and she'd feel less of a need to pick on her siblings ;).
My 5 yo - Assassin. He used to be very verbal, now just grunts and wants to kill everything.
My 2.5 yo - Spiderman. She likes to climb.
Can you tell I am having a rough night? Dh is travelling....
Seriously though -
Dd1 has a knack for staying calm when people get hurt (on the playground, at school) and she is quick at getting out band aids and disinfectants and she has a way with words in those instances for the child who is hurt - so I would say some job in the medical field might suit her just fine.
My son is generous, loving and (almost) always willing to compromise. I think that any work that is social and requires good people skills will be for him. Diplomacy? Conflict resolution?
My dd2, who knows? Trapeze artist? Window washer LOL?

DS would be a great sports reporter, although he's trying to decide between playing in the NHL or MLB. He has shared with me that he aspires to be a bad guy.

My 13 yo should be a lawyer, she argues with everything anyone says. She would argue with a brick wall. She knows everything. She's been a miniature Judge Judy since she was 2.

DD1: Fashion designer, personal shopper, or possibly sales. She's very interpersonal, and she has a real flair for fashion. She says she wants to do fashion, but plans to get her cosmetology license (haircutting) in high school as a back-up.
DS: I'm not saying he's definitely going to be a mechanic or mechanical engineer. I'm just saying that when he was about 3, I took out my old Isis pump all in pieces, and he took a look at those pieces, and basically without flaw put the whole thing together on the first try. He had never seen the pump before. Other possible careers include superhero, jedi knight, or bulldozer operator.
DD2: At this point, her best skill is completely avoiding messing herself whenever she spits up, which she does often and copiously. She will simply lean over, spit up on the floor, or possibly the person sitting next to her, and then right herself. She doesn't spill a drop on herself. I know it's not possible that this could be deliberate, and yet, it sure seems that way!
