Brace yourselves - the images are shocking; at least to me they were and my initial reaction was, gosh, don't know, not so good after the operation either. But I quickly got a hold of my inner teenager ;), and I found the story to be quite moving.

What pissed me off though was that the husband only got seven years for the attempted murder of his wife and the resulted permanent disfigurement and physical and emotional pain he caused her. Seven freakin' years!!! What judge sentences a man like that to so little time?

I just read that on MSN. It is very upsetting to me. The bastard should never have seen the light of day.

That is horrible. He should've been in prison forever.
The profile is amazing. I bet they'll do further surgeries, though, to make it better.

I've heard her story before. I'm so glad to see she's getting a face again. I can't imagine what she went through. And what a wonderful thing that they were able to find someone who's face they could use. (Though very sad for that family, too.)

I saw her on the today show, there will be more surgeries and they showed a picture of how they predict she'll look when the surgeries are complete. She'll never look the way she did, but she'll look pretty good when they are done.
I was appalled when I heard he only got seven years as well. Is that all you get for attempted murder?

I tried looking up how long the minimum sentencing is for attempted murder in Ohio and I can't find much on it.
Her strength is amazing. I'm glad she wasn't scared to show her face and to be who she is now. I am very thankful that we have the Cleveland Clinic. I've know a couple people who have benefited from their expertise in heart problems, eye problems, and with cancer. Before they did a huge format switch, we had to bring DS1 there and they were awesome.

I don't understand why the sentencing guidelines are lower for attempted murder than murder. I think they should be the same. Just because one screwed up and didn't manager to kill ther victim shouldn't lesson what they tried to do.

That is pretty incredible! Very sad that it happened in the first place, but amazing that they can do something like that and that nerve are starting to re-attach to a completely different person's face. I wonder how many surgeries and how long it will take before they can trim away all of the extra folds of skin. After suffering for so long, I am sure it will be a blessing for her to feel normal again. I don't even know where to begin with her husband's 7 years, that is just sickening!

This is an incredible woman. I saw the pics of the xrays of her skull after she was shot, and it is a miracle she is alive. While she might not meet our society's version of pretty, I think she is gorgeous.
Her husband should spend the rest of his life in jail, no question. Perhaps when he gets out, someone should shoot him with a shot gun in the face. Sometimes I strongly believe turnabout is fair play.
