I'm so excited I can't stand it,lol. There is a Multi -Sensory LEarning Academy (charter school) here that sounds very cool. It's all sensory based learning, which would be great for sensory seeking DS and great for DD1 as well. I applied online last night.

Well, I called a bit ago to find out the length of the waiting lists for K and 2nd grade. Am K was at 36 on the list, BUT 2nd grade was completely open. So that means DD1 is in for sure and since DS is a sibling, he moves to number 2 on the AM waiting list for K ! Better yet, they've still got PE,Music,Art,Drama, and library. I'm thrilled! They also don't go over 21 kids in a class, which is better than 36 at the other elementary school. We can set up a tour and bring the kids. Dd1 is over the moon excited, which is a relief.

So, now we just wait for the registration packet and then we can fill it out and send it in. I'm hoping that being number 2 on the list means DS won't have to wait too long. I'm totally patting myself on the back, lol!

Judy, I can't even sit still, lol. I'm still going to pursue homeschooling trial this summer JIC, but it would be GREAT if this all works out! I can clearly see a benefit here.

Oh! And apparently the approach to education they use was started originally for dyslexic students. It just so happens that Chloe will be seen soon to find out if she possibly is dyslexic. I'm concerned because instead of the transposition of numbers and letters improving, it's getting worse :( Every single time she reads out loud she transposes bs and ds and other letters. She also will think sometimes that a 6 and 9 are the same and there is one letter that she also confuses with a number. Sigh.

Tweet, is she 6? If so, I wouldn't freak out yet. It's not uncommon for kids that age to still transpose letters and numbers. It's actually pretty common up to about third grade.

Judy, yeah, she'll be 7 in July. I know it's common, but should it be getting worse? The fact that it's getting worse is what is concerning me a bit and not so much that she's still transposing. kwim? It's bad enough that DH has even noticed and commented. But, hopefully it is still within the normal range. Also, it's occurred to me that maybe if she is reading too fast or trying to hurry that that could be the reason.

Or, it could be that she's mildly ADD. I suspect that she is, but want to do the Feingold diet for now. I swear DS has ADHD,too. It's so,so prevalent in both of our families and they display so many symptoms for both. However, I don't want to jump the gun on it and I think so much can be helped by a diet change. I don't want docs pushing meds OR pushing a Dx,if that makes sense. So I'm keeping that to myself for the time being.

congrats on finding the charter school, I hope they both get in. 36 in an elementary classroom is awful. I agree with Judy that she is still within the age range for transposing numbers. Whether or not she is dyslexic, hopefully they will be able to give you some strategies to use with her if it doesn't correct itself as she gets older.

That is great! I'm jealous -- we don't have anything like that here. I can't imagine 36 kids in a class. That is insane.

Yay!
