Help! My dds is turning one...still nursing (all night long!), but loves to eat too. Problem is has painful stooling (cries as) and stool is firm and large around. We have been giving him 1 TBS flax seed oil twice a day and trying to increase his water intake. We've also been giving him apple juice (occasionally - not his favorite), prune juice (again dosen't prefer) and pears or peaches at every meal possible. No cheese, limited meat, no cow milk (yet). He also won't take fluids at daycare (four days/week) though we've tried many different cups...weaned himself from bottle with frozen bm 2 weeks ago.

I'm not sure what else to do...help please...

Yogurt and sweet potatoes are my first thoughts. Broccoli is good. That and avoid cheerios and other things like that that are dry and have lots of iron. Water is helpful as well as exercise. I also found that while I was still nursing frequently that if I would eat spaghetti or something with a lot of pasta sauce, my ds would poop the next day.
