This is going to be entirely unhelpful, but I love both. The ergo is really easy to use.. but so is the mei tei. I prefer the mei tei for little babies. The mei tei is better during pregnancy too, because I can tie it comfortably around the belly.

My boy is 15 months...and I LOVE the extras you can get for the Egro...Ugh I dunno....I def. need SOMETHING though. Would be so much better than pushing a stroller w/ my 3.5 y/o walking.

I preferred my Mei Tai for front carries and my Ergo for back carries. I wouldn't give up either one of them!

In my babywearing group, the Ergo is the be-all-end-all of baby carriers. I don't own one, but many of the mommies in the group do, and they love theirs.

I love both, but prefer the Ergo for bigger babies.

I don't, but a girl in my group does it all the time, even when pregnant. She loves the hip carry.

My Ergo is the one piece of baby equipment I refuse to part with until one of us gets snipped. I could not have survived DS's infancy without it. I've never tried the Mei Tai, but there's my plug for the Ergo.

I went with the Beco over the Ergo for reasons referred to in the other thread. I am very happy with my choice - I use it every day and would be lost without it. I used my mei tai a lot when DD was smaller in a front carry - LOVED nursing in the front carry when she was small since it was truly SO discreet I could nurse while grocery shopping! But for now with a 14-month-old, I love the back carry!
