Ive been getting unexplainable brusing on my upper thighs for quite some time now. Theyve always been only 1 or 2 but lately I have been getting quite a few (5-6) and just a while ago before showering I noticed a bunch of small bruises starting to form.

What the heck could this be? I think i'd remember bumping my legs a zillion times a week. I googled but there are so many different possibilities it just confused me.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Do you have a healthy diet? Not eating enough, or not getting enough iron and other vitamins can cause you to bruise easier. That would be the first place I look before I start looking at any of the other more serious things.

How do you feel in general? Anything else wacky going on?

Like you said, there could be a zillion different causes. I had a massage yesterday, and the lady doing it couldn't believe all the bruises on me.

I walk into things and then promptly forget. Do you have a table that matches up to the height of where your bruises are?

I had lots of unexplained brusing due to zinc deficiency a few years back. I had switched prenatals and the old ones had zinc and the new ones didn't. Figured out what was going on after my GP did some bloodwork and discovered the deficiency.

Yes I have had this happen to me but then I realized that dd3 liked to stand on my thighs while I was sitting and her little toes digging in to my thighs would cause the bruising in that area. Any chance that maybe this might be happening to you?

Hmmm, so I am thinking it is either as MrsKitty said, my diet (or my lack of iron). But as 3girls said my boys DO like to stand on my thighs. Could be a number of things!

Me, too! I'm pretty accident prone. Not big accidents (unlike my little brother, I have never cut off an appendage with a mallet!), but bumping into things, scraping my elbows, things like that are all very commonplace for me. I rarely know where a bruise, scrape or scratch came from. I've always been like this. And it was worse when I went to the bar a lot. (apparently alcohol makes me run into walls)

A vitamin C deficiency can also make you bruise easily. I'd start taking a multivitamin and see if that helps.

Did your brother mash his own appendage off or was it someone else's? My mother ran over her own foot with her car once...

Ummm.... yeah.

Yes; also being deficient in K can be associated with this. Try an iceberg lettuce salad, or some beets.

Actually, lots of funky things can be associated with unexplained bruising. It's something to keep an eye on without freaking out.

His own. He cut his thumb off. It was a hatchet, not a mallet (d'oh). (IDK why I said mallet, and didn't realize it until you said mashed, and then I was like, oh! yeah! mallets are the flat ones. lol.) They actually managed to reconnect it.

How do you run over your own foot with a car?

My mom is talented that way.

It happened like this:

Her parking brake was sort of broken. Once set, it refused to disengage. A normal person would take the car to a mechanic. My mom doesn't always come up with this type of solution right away, however. Instead of parking her car on the nice, flat street, she continued to park on her fairly slanted driveway, and continued setting the parking brake (because it has to be safe!)

Then she got into the habit of wrestling with the brake to release it.

Well, one day, she started the car, forgetting about her brake-wrestling routine, and put the car in reverse, intending to drive away... But the parking brake, alas! was set. So she started wrestling with it. Still in reverse. Eventually, she stuck her left foot out of the open door, so she could get a better grip. Her right foot she left on the brake.

But it slipped, just as the parking brake gave up the wrestling match. And the car obediently began to head down the driveway toward the street. With my mom hopping alongside it, undecided about whether to attempt to get back in. She kept hopping because, if she let go, the car would drive itself across the street and up the next house's driveway, and would then mash their garage door- AGAIN. (Another story.)

Eventually, somewhere in the middle of the street, she was no longer able to hop backwards on one foot fast enough to keep up with her driverless car and let go- at which time, the car mashed her right foot, which was at long last, resting on asphalt.

She then chased the car as it did, indeed, drive up to the neighbor's garage door and managed to catch it (her foot was now broken) and turn it off AFTER it had hit the door.

Then she dithered for several hours about whether to call the doctor and admit to the injury. She dithered until the local clinic was closed and she had to drive over an hour to the Kaiser ER when her foot swelled like a balloon in the middle of the night.

That's my mom...

I bruise easily as well. I just bang into things all the time. I never know where I got them from. :/

SM your mom is talented like me! In less than a weeks time I broke my nose with a screw driver, gave myself a black eye on the washer and then something else that I can't remember.
