shower in early labor

So I know I am not supposed to jump into the birth pool until labor is well established because the warm water can slow down contractions.

My hair is super tangled and I want to take a quick shower to feel refreshed and wash my hair before things really pick up. A luke warm shower isnt going to slow things down right?

I wouldn't think so, but then again I did a lot of laboring in the bathtub, and that didn't slow things down for me.

No problem get cleaned up do what you need to do.

I don't think so, but I'm like Jacksmommy, I jumped in the tub early on and things still moved fast.

Warm water helps relax your muscles and will help with labor. Start doing the imagine your uterus opening like a rose bud or melting like butter type stuff. Good luck kitty!

I called my doula and they told me to hop right in. Things picked up while I was in there :) So ... looks like today is a fantabulous day to have a baby.

The shower helped big time for me. Showers relax me and I went from contractions that were 5 mins apart (while lying down in bed), to 1-2 mins apart.

Things are getting better (or worse ;))

We went and picked up a ton of fresh fruit and chocolate just for meeee, and a birthday cake with a "0" candle.. then we went to my midwives appointment and I said hey guess what I am in labor! and I got to see all the other newborns in my prenatal group, and then came home. Im just having lunch and then I think im going to try and .. do something. Im kind of sleepy but I think im past the point of sleeping through them. That sort of inbetween state where they aren't "there" yet, but I can't really do much.

Soo... theres my update. Maybe my last for a bit. I am burning some more music right now for labor and hanging out while I eat my lunch and then figuring out what I need to do :)

my ob told me to hop in the shower and the warm water, particualry over my breasts would relax me and help speed up labor.
