The Alabama Department of Public Health is conducting a "Survey of Alabama Families." During the months of May and June, any family in Alabama raising children is encouraged to fill out the online survey at: http://www.adph.org/MCH/.
What we are asking you to do is take a few minutes to fill out the survey, and when you reach the section where you are asked to choose what you think Alabama's top five maternal and child health priorities should be, please add "Provide Alabama state Licensure for Certified Professional Midwives" to the "Other" option space and check the box that makes it one of your 5 choices.
This is an essential action item for Alabama mothers, their families, friends and supporters who want safe, licensed midwives to attend out of hospital births. It will also provide for licensed, certified healthcare professionals who are trained to respond to laboring mothers in crisis events that may render hospitals unsafe for healthy women and babies.
