When people call their dogs their "kids"....and REALLY,REALLY mean it. I love my dog. He is part of the family. But, he is NOT a kid. Also, when friends with no kids compare MY parenting with how they train their dogs. Er...not the same! Ok, maybe SOME similarities, but c'mon. I know people that refer to themselves as "puppy parents".
2 of my kids were at Grandma's for the week and my childless neighbors kept gushing about how much Elvis must loooooooooooooove having a break from the kids! Wtf? He loves the kids. They play with him. So,so weird. Like, it was almost sounding like an insult after the 5th time, lol.

I don't know but I have a peeve that falls in line with yours.
Why do "puppy parents" think that they MUST bring their pups into the store that has a big ole RED sign in the window that says no animals except for service animals AND then they get all sorts of bent out of shape when they get told to take their animals outside. WHY??

I hate when people don't properly train their pets to do their business outside and then get offended when you don't want to bring your dog over to their home because you don't wnat your pet to get any ideas.
Ok, I don't think this happens that much does it? But my SIL never takes her dog outside and wants to pet sit out dog. We got Cooper like 2 weeks ago and he is 2 years old and not completely house trained but we are working on it and he does pretty good for the most part. We are going on Vacation for 2 weeks in July and she offered to pet sit and when I said that we thought we had someone else to take him she got all bent out of shape about it.
Not to mention that the last time we had her pet sit for us it was with our cat(that we don't have anymore due to allergies.) She over fed the cat the first 10 days were gone, used up the food somehow and then proceeded to give the cat dog food until we got back. She didn't clean the litter box even once and so that cat ended up peeing all over the living room. I was so fucking pissed.

I agree. It is a DOG, a CAT, etc. It is not a human being.
Peeps who go on and on about their "four-legged children" and try to equate it to your human children. People who want to being their pets to your home. No thanks. They even make doggie strollers now. WTF?

Yes, you get it. It drives me ape shit. My childless neighbors w/ the dogs really don't like kids at.all. (act like they are terrified of them or that they have the bubonic plague) and yet refer to their dogs as "the KIDS". Say whaaaa?
The one lady will visit sometimes and want to bring her dog over. I don't mind because she can play with my dog in the back yard. However, last time, she kept telling my dog, "Ohhhh Elvis, Lu Lu doesn't like that!!!!" every time he sniffed her butt or went near her. Um, hello, they are fucking DOGSSSSSSS!! It was as bad as those parents that think their kids poop gold and yours have some disease. Ok, I haven't experienced that much, but that is what it reminded me of. Very ,very annoying

I agree (the term "fur-baby" drives me nuts), but I have to admit I was one of those people who considered the dog "the test child". It got us hardened to late night wakings, disgusting messes, finding sitters, and just the responsibility of caring for a living being.

You guys would love the ladies who come into the store, looking to buy used strollers or ring slings for their little Mitsy Paws!

I am suspicious of people who don't like children but use pets as substitutes. To me, it betokens a lack of people skills (and also, pet skills.) I can't really understand why folks insist on humanizing their dogs. Dogs are pretty cool as dogs- they don't need to be thought of like people to make them cool. Ditto for cats.

Tell that to dd1's cat, she thinks she is human. ;)

Exactly, I know some folks like this which solidifies my opinion on "furbabies". From what I can tell, the woman also lacks general people skills - esp with other women, not just children - which they both appear to hate. Another furbie states that animals are just better than people, happy to see you, never get mad at you, always there for you, etc. Seems to me some of these folks are just socially enept and animals fill that void.

Before I had kids, I considered my cats my children. When my cat Kiki died, I was inconsolable. After I had kids, well there is just no comparison. I gave up my beloved cat because she scratched and snarled at my baby.

I don't mind the pet coddlers, just the ones who undermine people with real kiddos. People who place pets before other people.
Yes. That's what I'm referring to. And believe me, I LOVE my pets. They are part of the family. But, they ain't people.
I really want to remind the neighbors that hate kids but call their dogs kids that while kids can be gross, their dog wipes it's butt on the floor and licks it's asshole as well as other dogs' assholes. At least my kids don't do that. I invited them to dd2's 3rd bday party and bless their hearts, they came, but they spent the night plastered to the wall and having a look of terror on their faces. As if my kids had a horrible communicable disease . And they had to go get home to "go for a walk with The Kids" LOL

That could very well be. Once when I was walking Elvis as a gangly lab pup, he tried to pull me over to this dude and his little weinie dog so he could sniff him. Dude FREAKED out, called me every disgusting name in the book and kept screeching that my dog was going to KILL HIS DOG! Oy. Yeah, no people skills, that one.

my beloved cat midgie got kicked out of the house and became our barn cat because she was way to loveing and cuddley with my newborn. I could not set him down, pee or cook because she would be all over him.

I've known people who were unable to have children who did consider their pets to be their children. They were in all the family photos, had special beds and toys, traveled with them - the whole bit. I've never lived that way and see a clear distinction between an animal and a child, but I guess I've never been bothered by other people choosing to essentially personify their animals.

I'm finding myself seriously annoyed with people who continuously and purposely acquire new pets that they can't take care of, and then they end up sick, or even die.

Another pet annoyance . . . I can't stand when people have animals that not neutered/spayed and they complain about that animals habits AND then they get more animals to add to the family. They say that they can't afford to fix animal A but they can afford to add animal B to the family. I'm dealing with this particular issue IRL and I currently have holes in my tongue from biting it.
