Hello

I am going back to work in a week and a half and my DS will be going to daycare full time. He will be 9 weeks. I have a very small freezer stash built but would like to have some fresh milked pumped that I can take for him for his first day. I have not pumped regularly due to oversupply issues; I found out quickly that it made my oversupply problem a lot worse (I currently block feed w/ two feedings per side before switching and it is just barely making it manageable).

Can anyone advise on how to start pumping again with the least affect on my supply? I was thinking to pump only once a day until I go back to work but should I pump after I feed him or at a totally separate time? Both breasts or one? I appreciate any and all help I can get :) Thanks!

I would probably only pump once a day at the early morning feeding. If you nurse him on one side then I would pump the other and save that milk. It should'nt take you long to save enough fresh milk for that first day.

I agree, plus that will give you the most relief. It seems like I have a lot more milk in the mornings. When I went back to work about a month ago, I started pumping and it has increased my supply, I just freeze all the extra. Also on the weekends I have to pump sometimes to get relief because she's not emptying me out. I'm not trying to get my supply up, but it has just happened. This may happen to you as well.
