Hello ALL: NOt sure if this is approriate,but when i read about this i got so freaking excited today! and i feel like i fit in with you all so i wanted to share. (shared with co workers and they were not as excited or supportive) okay here goes. i got an email asking for me to enter my name and email address to help support something with congress about giving businesses tax credits who offer lacation rooms for mothers. okay not good at summaries so here is the info from my email:
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) recently introduced the Breastfeeding Promotion Act to support employers and nursing moms by:

* Providing tax incentives for businesses that establish private lactation areas in the workplace;
* Requiring employers to make reasonable efforts to provide appropriate space and peak time for mothers to express milk;
* Protecting breastfeeding women from being fired or discriminated against in the workplace; and
* Allowing families to deduct the cost of breastfeeding equipment on their taxes, as is the case with other common medical expenses.[6]

not sure if this is a something real or just a hoax. has anyone heard of this? is it real? doesnt it sound great?! or did i just fall off the wagon by beliving in one of these things. i actually signed it. tell me what you moms think?

That would be great. Breastfeeding certainly needs support in our culture.

I think this is a big scam. Legislation to make it easier for us to pump our boobs at work while other people care for our children. Great.

How about legislating some more reasonable maternity leave, like 6 months or a year? FMLA is pathetic; what 3-month-old baby is ready to be separated from mom 40 hours a week?? I think fighting for pumping rights is a distraction from the real issue.

I suspect that in todays fiiscal hard times, it may be an uphill battle. However it could get buried in something like the health care bill quite easily and maybe appropriately.

Post here again if you hear more, I would be interested in more info.
