Our Guppy had babies

and lots of them!!! The kids are so excited, as am I. My question is, do I have to take mama out of the tank?

This. I had guppies and they had babies. I was thrilled--until they all disappeared.

It's not the mama that eats them. It's the dad. I dont' think my grandmother has ever separated her mama from the babies. She's raised fancy guppies, mollies and platties most of my life.

You don't even need to separate if you have lots of plant life for the babies to take cover in.

the mother father and every other fish in the tank will eat the fry. if you want fry to raise the only way to save them is to set up a seperate grow out tank for them. also you have to take a nylon stocking and wrap it over the filter intake or you will have many fry sucked up into the filter and die.

I kept all mine in the same tank too. I put a fake plant upsidedown in a corner at the top for them to hide.

What do you plan on doing with all the guppies? I eventually gave mine away, it just got to be too many fish with no end in sight. :)

Only mama was in the tank and I did take her out. They are just so cute!! We plan on keeping them for now, I'm sure after a few more pregnancies, we'll be ready to pass them on LOL
