She will be 16 in October. These are pictures of her on her Chicago trip last week.

In all honesty, telling her that she is too pretty is destructive. It places the guy's behavior on her shoulders. That wasn't her fault that guys found her attractive. She needs to be comfortable in her own skin to the point that she can stand up for herself, not feel bad that she is who she is.

I try to emphasize to her that it is not her fault that guys stare and that if someone makes a sleezy comment that it is not her fault and for their behavior.

IMO, that is very important. She also needs to know that she might have to come across as a stone cold witch to get them to go away, and they might call her names. I had a guy call me a slut because I was blowing him off. lol It hurt me then, but as I look back I have to laugh because I was being the exact opposite. Some guys are just jerks.

ETA: I'm not claiming to be beautiful, but I've dealt with my fair share of stuff like this.

ETA2: lol Apparently, so did Hamm. It sucks to be there.

She has a lot of guy friends and sometimes its hard for her because they start to want more than just freindship and when she lets them down the run away heart broken. She is gets heart broken for loosing a freind but I tell her that her real freinds will come back after they lick their wounds. There are a few girls that don't like her because their boyfreinds think she is "hot" and dd feels bad that the girls see her as a threat. She is not at all flirty either and she has a smile that lights up a room.

I've been there. Unfortunately, I let other peoples insecurities hinder how I saw myself.

I had those same issues. I always had guy friends and if I knew they wanted more I just tried to ignore it hoping they wouldn't say anything. One time I actually became one of their girlfriends but only because I felt bad. I felt even worse breaking his heart. I still feel bad about it actually. He was a great guy and I loved him but just not the way he wanted me to. He ended up dying a couple years ago and I think about him a lot.

Hamm I am so sorry.

CT thanks, she actually wants to be in a local beauty pageant but I really have never really liked the idea of beauty pageants. I am afraid of what it might do to her if she does not win.
