My baby boy is 11 weeks, recently when feeding on my right side he has taken to a pattern of suck suck pulls off then straight back on and sucks 2-4 times and pulls off and so on. He does it most times, but i wouldn't say everytime. He also hates feeding from my left breast, even if i can trick him for a bit by holdig him rugby style. All this behaviour has been going on for bout 2-3 weeks and around the same time he started waking at night to feed every 1.5 - 2 hours to feed, when he used to do a stretch of bout 6 hours. Any ideas as to why?? Do you think he's getting enough? I thought it may have been a growth spurt but its lasted so far 3 weeks
thanks

For the right side, do you have any indication that it could be overactive letdown? When he pulls off, does milk continue to squirt our of your breast, or does he seem to choke? I've read that feeding while laying down can slow the flow of milk.
For the left side it's possible that he's having to work harder for the milk to start flowing, so he's focusing on the easier right side.
Is he gaining weight & meeting milestones? If so, he's getting enough. If you're worried because he's just taking one side, you can successfully breastfeed a child from just one side. Our bodies are made to suckle two infants at the same time.

Welcome to the boards:) I agree that the pulling off and on again is usually in an effort to control the flow of milk: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/baby/fussy-while-nursing.html
