My 9 week old baby girl started sleeping through the night about 2 weeks ago. I have noticed a definate decrease in my milk supply the last 7 days. I have been pumping after nursing sessions to bring up my supply. Am I going to lose my milk or will my body re adjust? This is my 3rd baby but the first one I have actually breastfed, and I love it. I DO NOT want to formula feed. Does anyone have any advise??

If baby is not eating at night, you don't need milk at night.
right?
so your body and your supply should adjust to provide milk when baby needs it, and you shouldn't have to worry about it so much. it will be ok.

do u sleep through the night as well or does your body wake you up at night? my baby is also sleeping thru the night. she's 4 months though. i've been pumping at night even though she doesn't need it. i do agree with pp that your body should adjust itself to produce enough milk for you baby during the day. i just choose to pump at night so i can build up a stash for when i go back to work.

How do you know that your supply has decreased?

It's common and not bad for some of the earlier things that go along with milk production to fade with time. For instance, it's normal when your baby is just born to have some engorgement, even with each feeding, and to feel a strong, sometimes even unpleasant, let-down.

But it is also common for these things to disappear. Just because you are no longer over-full of milk before feeding, this does not mean that your supply has lessened. On the contrary, it is often a signal that your body has synchronized with baby's schedule of feedings and is becoming extremely efficient at delivering large volumes of milk.

Similarly, many women find that the feeling associated with let-down diminishes, sometimes even disappearing.

The best way to track whether your baby is getting enough is to count wet diapers.
