I have been pumping at work for 4 months now and havent had any trouble. My boss is surprisingly understanding. The thing is that he recently went on a weekend retreat with some of the other men with our company, they gave him a lot of slack about letting me pump at work. Especially about not clocking out while I am doing it. Is there a law that says I have to clock out? Where is the best place to find out about breastfeeding laws???

which state do you live in? There are laws in almost every state that allows for a mother to pump at work.

I live in Tx too. I found this "Tex. Health Code Ann. § 165.001 et seq. and § 165.031 et seq. (1995) authorize a woman to breastfeed her child in any location and provides for the use of a "mother-friendly" designation for employers who have policies supporting worksite breastfeeding. (HB 340, HB 359)" from this website: http://www.ncsl.org/issuesresearch/health/breastfeedinglaws/tabid/14389/default.aspx#Res

And thought that this link might also be helpful:

Hi there,

I was reading your 1st posting & you mentioned that you were pumping for about 4 months at your work place and it worked out well for you. How do you keep it up? Do you have problems maintaining the supply? My daughter is currently in her 8th month. I nurse her in the morning before I go to work and continue to nurse her when I am back from work at about 8 pm in the night. At office, I only manage to express once due to very tight work schedule. It saddens me very much to see the supply dwindle drastically. I hope to nurse her till she passes 2 yrs old. Hope to hear from you soon.

I'm fortunate enough to also have a very understanding employer and the ability to pump whenever I need to. But since you can't pump much at work can you do it in the car on the way there n back? Are u using a double pump during ur break? Is it possible to take a super short break or 2 in addition to the one ur already taking tp pump with a manual? They aren't alway as efficient as the double pumps, but they don't require as much set up and u could easily squueze in an extra small session or two. You could keep the pump set up n ready to go in a ziplock bag in the fridge in between mini sessions. Sometimes I'm able to get 5 oz with one if its been a while since I last pumped.
I wouldn't worry a ton about ur supply just bc you can't pump during the day. I say this only because I have a girlfriend who is a waitress. She's been able to bf while at home only and keep up enough of a supply. (Though she's pretty engorged by the time she finifhes a shift) My only thought is that iyou supply could be down on the weekends bc your body isn't used to producing during the day. But I would definitely continue nursing at every opportunity. You may want to try asking this question in the general forums. The women who typically respond in there will probably have a better idea of what you could do
