That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I bet you couldn't find a city in the country where this doesn't happen every day.

That is ridiculous! She was just doing a good deed and helping out.

The first thing my husband says is "what kind of asshole in the community would report that lady?"

I am guessing a disgruntled liscenced daycare worker who is pissed that someone is giving away her business for free.

I wish I had a friend like her.
Too bad someone had to complain about her doing her friends a favor.

Man, that is ridiculous. You can't babysit now? It's not like she's taking money for caring for kids all day. Ugh. It's her friends kids for less than an hour.

It's not letting me open it :( I just get a stuck screen that says Today, but there's not an article. I'll reboot tomorrow and see if that helps.

It could be that the kids get too noisy or are "wild" or something that caused someone to complain.

It seems the state - Governor stepped in quick to get the law rewritten to say what they really mean.

That is crazy. She is watching three kids not 30. It is no different then having your kids friends over at your house. What is next a license required for pay dates?

I was wondering the same thing about play dates. Crazy!

Just because I have 8 children of my own and sometimes watch a couple of my nieces, are they going to try and make me get a license or what??

From my very brief reading of the newspaper article, it seems the issue is that the kids aren't related. Your case is different, it's relatives.

Overzealous reaction by DHS, again.
When Lisa snyder called the social worker she got this :
“I said that the children should be able to come into my house if it’s raining or there’s a snowstorm,” Snyder went on. “The lady said to me, plain and simple, ‘Tell the parents to buy an umbrella.’ She was serious.”

Snyder also asked if the kids could come to her house for playdates. She was told that if the children’s parents were at home during the playtime it was OK, but if they dropped the kids off to play and then went to the store or out to dinner, it was no longer a playdate — it was day care.

So this is the logic of the social worker? The kids just need to stand outside in the snow or rain or we will fine you? How stupid is that?

Frankly it scares me that people with so little sense are social workers that have the power to take children away from parents.

It annoys me that people use DHS and CPS services to harrass their neighbors. And that it seems like CPS and DHS workers are more than happy to harrass people for stupid.

Very happy to see that the state rep, Calley seems to have some sense.

Quilty, I agree.

I may not be understanding correctly, but I thought it applied to any child who wasn't your own child.

I seriously think we as a whole need to pay closer attention to how much power CPS has.

I could not agree more. CPS as a whole gives me eye tics.

The big problem with CPS is there are no checks and balances. The social workers are free to do whatever they please. Not all of them have their heads screwed on straight, and if they don't, there is very little recourse for a parent. Even if there is recourse, a child has already been harmed due to being ripped from their parents and given to strangers.

That what I thought it meant. Any child that was not your own, be it a family or a friend's child.

Wow, crazy story. I hope they figure it out soon. I always thought you could watch as kids as often, long, earn money, whatever as long as you had under a certain number not including your own. My friend does daycare from her home and she is fine without a license as long as she only watches 3 kids besides her own 2. It seems like the lady on the video was only watching 3 kids before school; therefore, not breaking that law. I guess it is a different state though. CPS gives me the creeps now. I am hearing all these crazy stories that just plain fuck with people and are not exactly helpful at all.
