So, at your suggestion, I purchased a set of the first seven Sookie Stackhouse books. The set came last Wednesday, and I am now starting book 7. I will have to buy the last two next week after I get paid. So I am officially hooked and obsessed. I dislike Bill and want to leave my DH for Eric. Thanks a lot!
As a token of my appreciation, I have provided the following link. Enjoy.

Judy, it is total, mindless, trash reading filled with vampires, werewolves, and fairies. Each book is about 300 pgs and reads in a few hours. How I love literary slumming on occasion!
The link I posted is filled with pics of the actor who plays the vampire Eric on the HBO series TrueBlood. IMO, He is smokin' hot and I know from her past posts that Tweet has the hots for him as well.

I heard they weren't that great...
wait, there are fairies?
I really need to start getting books again. I want a kindle
I really don't like eric on the show- its the classic jerk you are supposed to like even though he is a jerk, that doesn't work for me- I really do go for sweet nerdy boys over them...but I bet the book character is a bit different

The book character is a bit different. You get a different perspective of him. In one the books he loses his memory and you see a completely different side of him.
Honestly, the books are hardly great works of fiction, but they are decent and read quickly.

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I'd like that or not.

I didn't think I'd care for them either, but here I am on book 7 and I have every intention of purchasing the other two.

If my library has them, and they don't smell like air freshener or perfume, I'll attempt to read them. :p

Okay, my library has three of the books and season one of TrueBlood. Two of the books are checked out, as is TrueBlood. Which is the first book, and why the hell doesn't my library have all of them?
The shittiest part of having went back to school is that required reading hogs up all my reading time. I can't wait until I have time to read some fun stuff.

Judy, the first book is Dead Until Dark. It pretty much reads just like the show for season 1 of TrueBlood. The show is way better than I had thought it would be. I kind of feel like if I had read the books before I saw the show I might not have been as interested or I would be annoyed by the deviations in the plot line. The show has quite a bit of sex in it, so if you plan to watch it, you want to make sure that Jacob is otherwise occupied. Dh and I got hooked on the show. I honestly had no intention of watching it, and I really didn't expect to like it at all.

Tweet, I just realized that Alex Skarsgard's father is Stellan Skarsgard--he is pretty hot himself.

Apparently Sweden's gene pool is hotter than America's.

If you enjoy literary slumming, you might enjoy MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series. It begins with Undead and Unwed.
You know, in case you have too much time on your hands and need more things to read. Seriously, like the Sookie Stackhouse novels, it's definitely slumming, but they read quickly and are good for a giggle.

Thanks, SSM. I will make use of my 30% off teacher discount at Borders this weekend. I am thinking of picking up several books and the first DVD set of Midsomer Murders. I have decided to treat myself to a set of Midsomer Murders every few months. I so love that series. The BBC really is fantastic.

Okay, you have given me something else to check out of the library (the books and DVDs). :p

I finished the last two books over the weekend. Now I have to wait for the next book to come out. I hate waiting. And I have to wait until May of 2010. That just sucks. (As a vampire book should, I suppose) There is a collection of short stories coming out tomorrow. I guess I will have to make due with that!

Uh,sha! You see his "gracious plenty" side!! lmfao!
I'm so glad you liked it! I'm done with book 9 and can't wait for book 10! I've also got the short story book pre ordered.

hehehe. I am obsessed with Alex. He;s just so beautiful and seems REALLY REALLY nice.
Word has it that he's dating the chick that plays SophieAnne. She's a horrible Sophie Anne,though..at least as of now.
I get so pissed at Alan Ball for portraying Eric as a big dick and Bill being the knight in shining armor, lol.

Alex is a hottie. And you are right, the redhead is not a good SophieAnne when compared to the book character. Lucky bitch if Alex is tappin' that though.
And you are totally right about Alan Ball's take on Bill. I mean, Bill is a bit of a douche. Not in the same douche-league as John Gosselin, but still, rather douchey.

... Oh I loved the Sophie Anne character on the show, but I haven't read the book to be disappointed in that take of the character.
She is the actress from Across the universe- I liked seeing her as a completely different person.

Well, I think she's just SO SO different in the book. I know Wood is a good actress in other things ,so it could have been funky writing. Whatever it was, though,it just fell flat for me.
And I can't believe they had Bill pop the question in season 2. They've already signed on for SEVEN seasons. Wth? Seems kinda odd . I'm skeered about the direction it might go in. Godric was the best episode this season, imo, and that would have been an awesome finale. As it is, I wasn't left wanting more with this season's finale. But, you can bet your sweet patootie I'll be watching to see if I can see my boy-er,Eric.

God,yes,Bill is a douche nozzle, isn't he??? But at least book bill had some depth. I don't likey how they are making him all knight in shining armor. He's a fucking VAMPIRE. They should show him struggling. He's just coming across all weird. I've thought way, way, way too much about this,if you can't tell, lol.

Tweet, after reading the books, I can see how pondering the plot a bit obsessively can happen. I am hoping that it is Lorena who took Bill, and the season opens with Eric losing his memory. I think that would make for an interesting take on the books since the show writers do seem determined to keep Bill in the role of hero. Bill just is not complex enough for Sookie, but than again, the Sookie of the show isn't all that complex either.

I know. She's just annoying sometimes in the show after the books. I know it's only based on it,but still..
I'm guessing Lorena or Pam. Eric wouldn't have had time to get back from Yahtzee with the Queen yet,I don't think.
