Was awesome! It was fabulously made and the storyline was heartwarming. At one point it brought me to tears.

I had the book when I was a kid. Actually, I still have it. It is definitely one of my all time favorites. I don't go to the movies often because of my sensory issues, but when I heard about the movie I was so excited, I just had to see it.

And ironically, right across the hall, "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" was playing, another one of my childhood favorites. I used to ask my mom, "Do you remember that book I had where the donuts were falling out of the sky and chasing people down the street?" I had forgotten the name of the book lol.

I plan on buying both as soon as they come out!

I was thinking of taking DS1. Do you think it is appropriate for a 4 1/2 year old. I read something that was recommending older than 5.

I took my 3 year old and she loved it! The monsters can be a little scary sometimes, but Elise is a big scaredy cat and she did fine with it.

My sister saw it and said it was a bit boring. She didn't think it would hold my boys attention.

I also loved Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs as a kid. I mentioned that to dh and he said "That's a book?!" I need to go get it for my boys, it was one of my favorites as a kid.

Yeah, I guess there are a few parts of the movie that would lose really young kids' attention, just because there's discussion going on that they probably wouldn't be interested in.

As an adult and lover of the book, I really enjoyed figuring out the role of each monster and how their characteristics relate to Max and what he is going through at home.

I think I missed my "window of opportunity" with this book. It was dh's favorite as a kid, and he is looking forward to seeing the movie. I, on the other hand, didn't read the book until after Jacob was born, and I simply didn't get into it—at all.

We loved it! My littlest girl is 2 years and 5 months and toward the end she said, "This is a great movie, I love it!"

My other girls liked it and so did my husband and I. Then we were dorks so we went and got the book to show our 5-year old.

We saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs a while back, both movies made me tear up at one point or another, but I am a big cry baby anyway.
