It's my mom's last sister, my aunt Shelby Jean. She just found out that she is dying of lung cancer. Her prognosis is grim and she wants nothing to do with treatment, just drugs to keep her comfortable. She is 58 years old.

They just lost their sister, Maryann, to pneumonia last year.

I hate, hate, HATE cancer! Especially lung cancer. First my grandma (mom's mom), then my aunt Vicky 2 years ago, and now Shelby.

And now that we're starting to lose my mom and dad's brothers and sisters, it is scaring the hell out of me. I don't want to lose my mom and dad.

I want to rant about smoking. I'm an ex smoker and I know how tired you get of hearing it, but please, if you smoke, love yourself enough to quit. Lung cancer is a horrible way to go.

:( I'm with you. Only 2 people in my family have died from causes other than cancer.

I am so sorry. My grandmother and one of my moms sisters both died of lung cancer. Cancer is evil.

My mom has had 3 sisters to die in the last few years, one unexpectantly in September, and it scares the hell out of me to think of something happening to my mom or dad. I would go crazy without them.

I'm sorry tiffers :( I quit smoking over 5 years ago but my dh still smokes. He has tried to quit a few times, I wish he would just stop.

I'm so sorry. :( The thing is that most lung cancers are preventable, but people just don't seem to get it.

Thanks ladies.

I'm about to celebrate my 3rd year of being smoke-free. I am so glad I was finally able to quit. It was hard, so I totally understand the struggles of those who are trying to quit.

I just hope that I didn't do too much damage to my lungs in the years I smoked. Lung cancer is one of the last ways I want to go.
