DD1 will be 16 on the 28th and she is going to have a few freinds over (around a dozen kids) for a Halloween party. I need inexpensive ideas on food and maybe some activities but I will mostly just leave them alone for the most part. The boys will leave early and some girls my spend the night and will be watching scary movies. I just need activity ideas for back up just incase they get bored or maybe some ice breakers. I really have no idea what to do. TIA.

They will not get bored. They are at the talk constantly stage- I remember it well. Scary movies and video games were popular when I was this age. Multi player racing games (Mario Kart) were a big hit with us.

As far as food, I love taco layer dip. It is filling and inexpensive as far as party food goes. Always a big hit when I serve it. I always do a vegetable platter too. And cake of course.

The party will be great! Have fun!

Ohhh this dip is (http://southernfood.about.com/od/crockpotdips/r/bl24c3.htm) awesome too! It looks horrible and tastes great! I also like to add 1 lb of browned ground chuck or sirloin to it as well.

Those dips sound great and easy to make. I did not want to order pizza because it gets cold to fast and it's just so common around here. I wanted to serve something different.

Plans have changed since some of dd's close freinds have a band competion that day and a few of them told her they can't come because of religious beliefs (they don't celebrate halloween). The ones that can come, which is about 5 of them, will still come by and have cake and ice cream and then they are going trick or treating. This makes life so much easier for me.

Heh. I remember being 15 and saying I was going trick or treating. I was really dropping acid and "trip" or treating around the neighborhood. Maybe you should make them stay in and watch videos.

But if your mom came with you trick or treating, you probably would have just dropped the acid another night right?

My point being, if I were 16 (and I was an angel at 16, though not in college) I would not want my mom to go trick or treating with me. If you could trust her not to drop acid in general, I'm sure you could trust her to go trick or treating alone.

I don't plan on walking in the group but DH and I will be taking dd2 and dd3 and will probably be following right along a few houses behind. What worries me more is the other kids that might be doing acid and what they might do when they are high.

I am not to worried about her taking acid because this child is afraid to take tylenol because of what it might do to her body. She is very cautious on what she puts in her body.
