My milk has an odor like soap. This is the third time I have breastfed and this has never happened before. I thought it was in the pump/bottles, but that isn't the case. The only difference between the other two and this baby is that I am taking a lot of vitamin D. Could that be it? She nurses wonderfully and enjoys her bottles too, so that isn't the problem. I just want to make sure this is ok.

Very interesting. Have you tried pumping directly into a bag to see if the scent is still there then?
And are you using any scented soaps or lotions on your breasts?
I am not aware of Vitamin D causing breastmilk to have an odor.
If you want to be on the ultra safe side you can take a sample to your physician for a culture.
Sorry I do not have a better answer.

See, you caused me to learn something new tonight. I did some online research and discovered that the lipase in our milk can give it a soapy smell.
Here is the link to read more about it.

Thanks, I was just on too and found that information. Very interesting, I think I might go get my lipase levels checked!
