Hi, I am very concerned that I am not producing enough milk for my 10 week old daughter. It seems after nursing her on both breasts she still isn't satisfied. She latches on well sucking and swallowing for about 5 minutes (sometimes more) then it seems she is very fidgety coming on and off my breast. At that moment I assume I don't have any more milk and I give her formula. I would really like to just breastfeed her but I am afraid if I don't supplement she will still be hungry. Is there something I should do to increase my milk supply? Is there a natural supplement that is safe to take?

To verify that your daughter is getting enough milk count how many times she poops. When she comes off the breast and starts being fidgety it might just mean that she needs to be burped and then you can offer her the breast again. As long as she is gaining weight well and she is going peeing and pooping she is getting enough and there is no need to supplement. You might be in a way sabotaging your milk supply by supplementing because when your daughter gets formula she is full and no longer might want to nurse, and the less she nurses the bigger the possibility for your milk supply to decrease.
