I have read this could be thrush? How do I know? Should I go see my OB? My son is almost 4 weeks old and just as I think I got this breastfeeding thing down I notice at nights when I am side laying/breastfeeding on the right side, near the end or when he's done feeding I get these horrible pains in my breast. I thought maybe a clogged duct? But I haven't felt one. I don't see any white spots on my nipple or any breaks in the skin. Why is my left breast fine and my right is in pain? I also have noticed my right breast is always more full than my left. Also, the nipple is more sensative/sore than the left. My son does have white on his tongue but it looks like milk residue. I tried to wipe it today and for the most part without gagging him, it wiped off.

Could be thrush but it also could be that you simply have an issue with letdown in that particular position. Does the pain only happen at night and in that position?

It has happened a few nights in a row. It seems like it does only happen in that position at night....hmmmm.... I'm hoping it's not thrush. But why doesn't it happen to the left breast in that same position?
