Hi,

I am not an expert on bottles (and pacifiers) and generally don't have a strong opinion as long as a baby goes breast to bottle without concern. However, those babies who do prefer the breast, the Adiri Natural Nurser bottle is a good option to choose. The bottle is shaped like a mother's breast and has a patented valve to make certain the baby doesn't get extra air.

I would suggest someone other than you offer the baby the bottle and for you to go elsewhere. We both know that a crying/fussy baby makes it hard for the breastfeeding mother to NOT relent and feed the baby. The Adiri Natural Nurser will be harder to find as the months go on as the company has been affected by the economy and is closing its doors. If you can not find the Adiri Natural Nurser in your community, please place an order at www.becomingmothers.com and we'll send you one (or two).

As for pacifiers, again, I have no opinion besides using one that is BPA/phthalates free. The only caution with pacifiers is that the baby is being offered the breast when hungry, is gaining weight as expected and not pacified unnecessarily. My experience is that a breastfed baby will not be pacified with a pacifier if hungry, nor will a breastfed baby welcome the breast when satiated and just needing something to self-sooth.
