hello...I'm a 33yr old mom nursing my 10wk old daughter. I had made an adoption plan for my baby but it has been delayed by consents. I had planned to breastfeed while in the hospital, then pump for 3 months sending the frozen milk to the adoptive mom who planned on using a nursing supplementer. we'd still like to, but it will be another 60 days before my daughter can legally go to her forever family. I recently started a fast-paced new career and am struggling to continue to nurse and pump. I really want to do what is right for my daughter and help make her transition to her new family as easy as possible. should I continue to nurse her until her adoptive mom is able to? it'll be my milk she's getting, but I'm wondering if we should use the same lotion or something smelly, then her adoptive mom can gradually use less and less. I don't have any idea what kind of issues we might have. my daughter is very easy going and snuggles with everyone. she nurses very well, and seems to enjoy it.

I honestly dont know how to answer this question.
Recieving your breastmilk for as long as possible is ideal. But I do not know if you continuing to suckle her is ideal if you will be handing her over to someone else soon. That seems very conflicting to me. I would just say to pump and give it in a bottle. Pump as much as you can for as long as you can.
The adoptive mom will likely need to work with a lactation consultant to obtain a latch on the baby especially considering she is older.
I am sorry I cannot offer a better answer.

thank you for your reply. please don't worry about it being conflicting, during what is right for this innocent child is what is important. and thank you for your opinion, I've gotten a different one from every professional consulted. I keep hoping someone has some experience to offer.
