I am having trouble getting my son to latch on. In fact, he just screams and pushes away. I have been pumping for a month now and I get nothing. Taking Fenugreek, Vitex (suggested to me by a vitamin shoppe person), standard process Symplex F, standard process Mammary PMG as well as prenatal pills. I can't afford to buy a SNS or Lact-Aid, so does anyone have instructions on how to make a homemade one? Or know where to see some pictures to see how it works?

I'm relactating and my son is seven months old. Before he weaned (due to illness) our nursing relationship was great. He had a perfect latch and everything. Ate well. All of that. It's been almost three months sinced he's nursed and he just won't take back to the breast.

I talked to a WIC lactation consultant and she said to take a bottle nipple, poke holes in it, and put it over my nipple then let him suck on it. But he just grabs it and plays with it. D=

One other thing that you could try would be Mother's Milk tea...however best thing to do would be to nurse as often as possible. You could also try a nipple shield, although it also might be the case that he has weaned himself already. You could read a bit more about child led weaning here http://www.kellymom.com/bf/weaning/babyselfwean.html

Pumping is not as good in removing milk as a baby would be so if there was no direct nursing during that time then that could possibly minimize your milk supply up to a point of being very small.

Good luck.
