Hi, totally new to this board but have some BFing questions. I have a 7 week old who I was breastfeeding til he was 4 weeks old. It was extremely painful every time. I got mastits and severe thrush and was in the hospital for treatment. I also got really bad cracked and bleeding nipples from a poor latch that muliple trips to the breastfeeding clinic didn't help. Finally the LC thought he might be tongue tied so I had his clipped. But bfing was still painful, I was still healing from the thrush and cracked nipples at the time. I am now on my 2nd course of diflucan and have done all the herb and natural remedies for thrush, I think I'm fianlly coming to the end of it. While I stopped bfing I still pumped between 8-12 times a day and was able to pump more than 40 ozs a day. He was taking expressed breastmilk til 3 weeks ago. He had a really horrible diaper rash and terrible gas and was diagnosed with GERD while still getting breastmilk. I switched him to a hypo formula, the same one my twins were on due to milk and soy allergies, after trying an MSPI diet and then the total elimination diet without improvement in his symptoms. Hes now taking prevacid for his GERD and the ped GI has him on an amino acid based formula for a rash on his face that I think is baby acne. We are trying this horribly expensive formula for 2 weeks to see if it helps the rash on his face but time is almost up and no improvement. I still feel like I want him to get breastmilk but am scared that giving him breastmilk again will cause the diaper rash to come back and have him in pain again when we are finally seeing an improvement with his GERD meds. I am still pumping, but only twice a day and am getting between 8-10 ozs a day. I don't know if he will ever latch, he never did, but I think now that I'm finally feeling better I can come up with a more manageable pumping schedule, but am worried about how he'll react. I'm also starting nutrisystem and won't be able to take diary and soy out of my diet for at least a month. His ped thinks that the diaper rash was due to his GERD and not allergies. Help I really want him to get breastmilk, I wasn't able to with my twins, I tried really hard with them but dried up after 6 weeks.
